As a student of Eastern philosophies and a meditator of more than 50 years, Dr. Petro brings a broad, wholistic perspective to his practice of psychiatry and psychotherapy.  He works with individuals to identify their personal goals for treatment and helps foster healing and wellness across biological, psychological, social, transpersonal and spiritual domains.

He subscribes to the advice from Hippocrates: “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food”–a belief which led him to obtain additional training in nutrition and lifestyle medicine from the Cleveland Clinic Wellness Program. Thus, he recognizes the importance of researched-based choices in nutrition, lifestyle, sleep habits and exercise in restoring and maintaining overall health and wellness, as well as in preventing multiple chronic illnesses and the chronic health problems associated with aging.

As it may be necessary or advantageous for an individual to use medication to help restore emotional balance and well-being, Dr. Petro brings his broad knowledge and experience in psychopharmacological treatment to the task of managing and minimizing symptoms.
